Hydrology study and flood Analysis for proposed 40 MW solar farm-Gujarat

The primary objective of the study was to conduct a hydrology study and flood analysis of the premises to define safe development levels of various structures for uninterrupted business activities for the life cycle of the facility. Hence, it became too important to identify an effective catchment of the premises and analyze the hydrology based on various hydraulic parameters affecting by upstream part of the site.

Evaluating the impact of 25 years return period flood map was one of the important steps to develop flood mitigation, adaptation, and prevention plan in the downstream basin.

The client was appointed by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSECL) to develop the 40 MW Solar park near Surat including five years of Operation and Maintenance (O & M) contracts. The site is approximately 3 km far from the nearby habitat. The site was having frequent water logging issues due to the close vicinity of the Arabian Sea to the downstream and confined flood plane region.
